GSWMA to Engage Food Handlers in Pre-Carnival workshops to address proper waste disposal for Carnival.

The GSWMA will collaborate with the Ministry of Health, Environmental Health Department for the conduct of the waste management module of its annual Food Vendors Certification workshops in the coming months in the run up to Carnival 2023.

The workshops which are held prior to the annual Carnival celebrations is focused on not  just provision of safe food for patrons, but in doing so in a clean environment that is conducive to food service as well as giving consideration to and effecting an acceptable system for waste management during and after food sales.

GSWMA presentations will also address legislation regarding clean-up after events, collaboration with sanitation service providers to dispose waste from booths and demolition of booths after the festivities. Workshops are planned each year to be held in each parish.
