The Mission is ,'To improve the Quality of life of the Grenadian public and the protection and enhancement of the environment through the provision of effective management and an efficient, reliable and acceptable solid waste service.
Established by an Act of Parliament - Act no. 11 of 1995 Entitled Grenada Solid Waste Management Authority Act 1995. An act to establish a Solid Waste Management Authority charged with the duty of developing the solid waste management facilities and improving the coverage and effectiveness of solid waste storage, collection and disposal facilities.
Supporting Legislation - Environmental Levy Act 1997.- This makes provision for the payment of a Levy by persons and on Goods and services and serves to support the financial operations of the Grenada Solid Waste Management Authority. Waste management Act. 2001 - An act to provide for the Management of waste in conformity with the best environmental practices and related matters. Out of the Waste Management Act has emerged the National Waste Management Strategy for Grenada.
